Greetings Parental Units!

Thanks for joining me at back to school night  (August 29th) . If you missed the Intense all-about-Physics spiel, no worries - I'll try to keep a frequently asked questions section here for you.  Feel free to contact me at any time with your concerns.  I ask that you please have a conversation with your student prior to any communication.  Often they will be able to help you.  They are quite amazing if we let them be!

Class News:  Students will only be allowed to use their phones as calculators, stop watches, and cameras for in class work with specific permission. NO texting , calls, or internet surfing allowed. Please do NOT contact your student during class time, in an emergency contact the office and a message can be delivered without instructional disruption.  Phones are confiscated for misuse, and will usually be kept in a cell phone lockup during class .

FAQ:

Q:  Is it really Okay for my FRESHMAN to be in Physics?  Isn't that a really advanced course?

A:  At Pioneer, we have debated long and hard about which science should come first.  Physics is a natural "first" because it addresses so many things that are in the students own lives and  how the world works around them. It's a good fit to engage students with the fabulous (okay a bit of bias is showing) world of science.  We'll be emphasizing a lot of foundational skills - math, graphing, data collection and interpretation, measurement - that we are looking forward to translating into the subsequent science classes.

FORMATTING CAVEAT: Assignments and work will need to be done in the proper format ( Guidelines provided and posted)
